Katie focuses her practice in the area of family and matrimonial law, representing clients in matters involving divorce, property division, alimony, child support and child custody. Katie also represents clients in post-divorce matters, including modifications of alimony, child support, and custody, disputes regarding post-secondary education and other enforcement actions. Katie is actively engaged in all facets of trial preparation and litigation and also assists with in-house financial investigations to identify income and assets subject to support and equitable distribution.
Katie also works with clients to resolve their matters through non-adversarial means, by preparing for and attending divorce and post-judgment private mediations with clients.
Katie’s practice also involves working with clients prior to marriage, by assisting in the negotiation and drafting of premarital agreements and corresponding financial disclosures.
Katie uses her familiarity with the developing law surrounding the rights of LGBTQ+ parents, parents of children born through assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy, and donors of genetic material to assess claims of parentage and to determine legal courses of action available to clients. Katie’s understanding of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act and Uniform Interstate Family Support Act also allows her to work with clients involved in interstate and international custody and support disputes.
Katie graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law where she participated in the Mediation and Immigration Clinics.
Prior to attending the University of Connecticut School of Law, Katie graduated, magna cum laude, from Providence College where she studied sociology and political science.
Katie represents clients in every judicial district throughout the State of Connecticut.
